Nila in the rain
Nila is celebrating the monsoon this year unlike many other previous years where it was struggling to touch both the banks. Two weeks of continuous rain has it banks flooded and it's a beautiful site to behold. Some images from yesterday and this morning:
Pic: One of the most famous temples along Nila: Tirumittakodu
Pic: Offering to the river Goddess. Bathing ghats of Nila
Pic: A scene from Kuttippuram.
Pic: Another scene from Kuttippuram. Just three days before we could swim until halfway across!!
Congratulations! Dear Mr GP, I just stumbled across your site tday. As a Keralite living far away from home, it is indeed wonderful to see the work you are doing. Your fotos of the rainy season are fabulous! Keep them coming!
Wow..I am from Tavanur and I had to CHamravattom the day before and you know we couldnt go to the temple as its been covered in the river almost fully. It seems the water hasnt gone up so high in more than forty years. Don u guys have pictures of the temple.? Would be great to see. BTW< its truly amazing to read your blogs. Where do you live?
Sree they say that every other year,ie.about the water levels. The beauty of that temple is the seasonal dry/flooded state.I guess one of the few temples where the dieties & temple itself gets a thorough top to bottom bath!
Been working in the field of Responsible Tourism since early 2004. Founded Nila Foundation and The Blue Yonder out of the passion for the region I come from.
These two initiatives helped me discover myself and it’s been a beautiful journey ever since; personally as well as professionally.
In the constantly evolving dynamics, I felt the need to document thoughts, developments, and changes.
What you read here are my personal thoughts and not necessarily endorsed by the organisations I represent in various capacities.
I am also a palliative care volunteer.
Peace!
